Yogabugs hits Dumfries
An Auchencairn woman wants kids to try their hand at yoga.
Sue Smith has started up Yogabugs in Dumfries – a fitness scheme whereby yoga is transformed into story-telling and fun.
The classes are for children aged two and half to seven.
The physical fitness programme includes warm-up exercises, posture work, breathing and relaxation techniques.
Sue has introduced it in schools and nurseries, and is also holding private classes.
And she has found it has been a hit with the kids.
She said: “It’s a good way for young people to stay active and have fun.
“We use yoga poses to tell stories.
“I’ve only really just started it up recently, but it is being well-received by the kids.”
Sue first got interested in yoga five years ago, and is pleased she can link it with teaching children.
She added: “It’s great to be able to link my love of yoga with working with children.
“They have been really getting involved, and it’s a lot of fun.”
Sue has classes in Dumfries and Dalbeattie at the moment.
Her plan is to provide classes across Dumfriesshire.
