Tunbridge Wells, Kent & East Sussex
When and where are classes available? We're offering classes in Tunbridge Wells, Uckfield and the surrounding villages; breakfast clubs, lunch and after school clubs in schools and nurseries during term-time, and in children's centres. Classes in private venues are also available and, if we have the demand, we'll run Saturday morning classes. We will be running holiday clubs throughout the school holidays. Please call Helen on 0845 863 0681 or email helendowsey@yogabugs.com for further details. What is YogaBugs? YogaBugs classes are a fun-filled children's activity for 2 to 7 year olds. The classes offer a creative blend of simple yoga postures and adventure-led story telling. The story-telling enables children to explore their imaginations and they are always the heroes of their stories. Children learn about the movement of their bodies and feel what it is like to be different animals - from a grasshopper to a horse, from a butterfly to a giraffe. The physical aspects help maintain flexibility, improve/maintain muscle tone and are great cardio-vascular exercise. YogaBugs classes help children to breathe correctly, learn how to concentrate and focus and the moral messages behind the stories subtly teach them how to be gentle, considerate and kind. All children can do yoga - often much better than their parents! This builds their confidence and makes them feel positive about themselves. What can you expect? Here are some reactions: "The teacher completely capitvated my 4 year old with her enthusiastic storytelling and movement. This is a fantastic activity." "The children really enjoyed themselves and I think it was one of the first times I've never seen any bad behaviour at a party! It was a pleasure to see the children having so much fun." "One of the boys even told his mum that it was the best party he'd been to and gave it 9 out 10"

About the Team
Grace Annand Grace has been teaching both adult and children's yoga for many years and ran her own yoga studio in Uckfield. Sam Jones I have been practising yoga for five years and I'm extremely enthusiastic about the benefits it brings. I'm dedicated to sparking an enthusiasm for yoga in children. Before teaching yoga, during my time as a nursery nurse and teaching assistant, I have seen that in today's world there are many expectations, social boundaries and academic pressures on young children, I really believe yoga acts as an effective release from these expectations. What I love about YogaBugs is that children get to take part in a non-competitive activity that not only strengthens and stretches their growing bodies but also improves coordination, relaxation and breathing. When teaching a class I love to see the children using their imagination to be a snake or a lion through adventure-led interactive storytelling. Without even knowing it, using their limitless imagination, they are naturally having fun whilst doing yoga. I really do feel that words alone cannot convey the value of yoga for everyone. At whatever age, it should be experienced.
About the Regional Manager
Helen Dowsey I've been attending yoga classes for a number of years and I am the mother of a 3 year old Bug! I've been working in the City for 20 years plus in financial services and decided that I'd had enough. I wanted to find something more meaningful and emotionally rewarding and, when a friend told me about YogaBugs, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. I'm very excited about building the franchise in Tunbridge Wells, Uckfield and the surrounding villages. I'm very lucky to have Grace and Sam on board to support me in delivering the classes; Grace and Sam are both very talented children's yoga teachers and they have a fantastic range of skills and experience and masses of enthusiasm. I believe that children benefit from yoga as much as adults. Some scary statistics I learnt recently have convinced me that teaching yoga to children can provide the perfect solution to many of our modern day problems; here are a couple of them: 50% of 11 year old boys and 40% of 11 year old girls are obese; pre-schoolers suffer higher levels of stress than at any other time in their lives (they have no control over what happens to them and can't necessarily articulate their feelings). Yoga has innumerable benefits and so our journey to a happier, healthier society begins...
